like a divorce

The battle, the fight is getting pathetic and turning into a mud wrestling match.
D. de Villepin and N. Sarkozy lately reached a point that resembles either a nasty divorce or two kids arguing over who's going to keep a toy.

As a parent I would confiscate the toy. As a lawyer I'd make sure these two morrons loose their shirts.

As a voter (which I'm not)?

I'd choose someone less inclined to bring forward his personal interest and cares more about this country.
Do we really need more embarrassment than we've already demonstrated?

Yet another reason why I'd like to be swiss.

ride #… lost count

The day before, with SR, we only had ridden 22 miles (we didn't even reach Chagny; apparently he didn't want to follow me all the way like he had last weekend. And walk kind of funny for 2 days afterward ^_^) so today had (it's a little before 10:00PM now) to be a bit longer: Chalon-Givry-Comartin and back = 2X30km + 2X9 = 78km. I left Cluny, 14 km further down to the south, for another ride.

I thought I had been on la voie verte  before, the one that stretches beyond Buxy. I was that wrong. My neighbour having advised me that it starts right from Givry I made a point finding it.

This confirms that I wouldn't find my butt with my hands on it. How could I not see it?

la voie verte: think of the promenade  along the LA beach that stretches for miles, trade the sand and the palm trees for fields, vineyards and oaks.

The sun didn't fool me one bit; temperatures were chilly. I chose the option of not showing one bit of skin.

It took me 4 hours and a half, I stopped 3 times.

I too walked kind of funny for a little bit after I got down from the bike.

Perspective

I really would not want my american friends to take what I'm going to say the wrong way but I couldn't help laughing after reading articles first on “Courrier International” then NYTimes.

Converting currencies and volumes, from Dollars to Euros then gallons into liters, dividing here but multiplying there, is complicated enough for my 2 neurons (one of which I mostly use for just about everything, the other one I keep as spare part) so only now have I realized that the price for a liter has reached 55cts (€)…

Wait a minute! I swear, I had to read it twice.

Then I started laughing… I'm such a bad person. ^_^

I'm home

I'm having a day off.

Won't probably do much today, merely watching 'silence of the lamb' now, meeting AM at 02:00PM then riding a bit, later, with SR when he's done working.

'Silence …' is great but even though I know the movie I can't really watch it from start to finish.

The Visa problem being over I'm finding myself kind of lost at to what my next priority should be: I'm on the other side of the hill and have several directions ahead of me.

I wish I had the ride only to worry about. I have 2 interviews in Paris next month for my new position in Finland and I haven't called back to secure any schedule…

I guess I try to avoid thinking about it and panick.

Hence 'Silence…' because it's scary enough to distract me.

Back in time

Das ist gut! INA  (National Audio-Visual Institute) finally decided to make public its archives, for free.

These are Nounours, Pimprenelle and Nicolas. I used to watch this show, in Black and White, right before going to bed.

There was only one channel then and I don't remember people complaining about it.

Maybe they did but I didn't care, Nounours  was all I wanted then.

Already interested in bears… LOL

dream or reality

I hate it when it happens: thinking about something that you remember worked perfectly well, made perfect sense … and being absolutely unable to remember even tiny bits of it the day after.

Because I can't remember the exact moment when I thought about it I'm not even sure whether it was yesterday or during the night.

Could have been a dream then.

It was about something that could dramatically improve efficiency…

Now if it was a dream I very much doubt it would make sense at all (some such dreams, whenever I was able to remember them, usually made me wonder what I had the day before).

But what if it was not?

I am, therefore, purely and simply wasting time doing things I could do otherwise if only I could remember what I thought of was about.

Maddening!!

death penalty

Massaoui may not be the ideal poster boy for campagning against death penalty but I do hope this government will let at least know we disapprove of the sentence.

Sorry if I shock some but if one is against death penalty (or war) there can't be exception to the rule: it's either all or nobody.

Embarrassing my inspector

I think I found the perfect way of making my inspector blush. *giggle*

Thanks to NYTimes™ I found out what band is to represent Finland  in coming European song contest.

MMmmm aren't they cute?

Now, what if they actually won? *giggle*

Visa II – end of story

I searched for a fancier, happier way of writing about it but waking up at 1:50AM to go to Paris and drive back the same day took most of my daily energy. I'm worn out / nackered whichever means being over tired and … that only *grin*

My request for a visa is accepted.

The embassy is to deliver it in a couple of days along with all the documents I was to provide.

Let's consider this hurdle cleared. Next ones are:

– Reaching minimum in fundraising.
– Training.

May I suggest those of you who care about my goal help me with the first  (dont' hesitate to spread the word, there's less than a month left…), I'll try my best with the second.

Right now, I wish the night could come faster because I need an excuse to go to bed. ^_^

Gosh! I'm so glad this part is over.

Couleur 3

Swiss people are … special interesting.

Whenever I'm tired of listening to France Inter or BBC 4 or 5 I turn to my favorite swiss radio: couleur 3. I quickly get pass the singing accent and some of their foreign words.
Switzerland is so close to this country almost half of their infos relate to what is going on here, with the interesting perspective of an external look.

And… there is the very peculiar way of addressing social trends we tend to overlook here until it becomes a real problem; it seems that recently some misconducts were observed in the Romandie  canton hence this program I'm listening to: pornography, erotism, sexuality, rape, …

… and the difference between these terms in real life.

At 42 this year I'm not embarrassed to say I'm still learning ^_^

Unrelated to said above I'd like to be swiss.
