I'm so stressed… I'm really not happy about Lastminute.com. I'm still waiting for a confirmation that the e-mail I received is really the e-ticket for a seat in the plane that's supposed to take me back to SF from LA right after the ride.

I got a phone call from Lastminute… The seat is indeed booked. My concern was about not having seen any change in my bank account. The person I talked to confirmed this would in anyway cancel the booking: lastminute Italia paid for my seat, all I need to do now is show up… in time.

I'll stick to ebookers from now on though.

I need to concentrate on the packing up right now. It's going to be an excrutiating exercise figuring out what to bring, what I can buy sur place, in order to travel light without leaving the absolute necessary behind.

– tickets
– passport
– mobile (though its autonomy is pathetically low which forces me to consider buying a charger)
– earplugs
– camera + loaded batteries + memory cards + cable (to charge as well as connect for down/uploading)
– sleeping bag. Last year I was so close to not bring my 0°C bag, because of the room it takes, and buy a lighter one instead. Temperatures are so unlike ours: super high during the day, unbelievably cold at nights.
– Clothes. That's the bitch… how many of everything? I can always buy stuff but how will I bring them along through the ride?

I wish I could enjoy it more but thinking that tomorrow my train is at 05:26, my flight at 09:55 and arrival at SF at 20:28, everything being local times, I already anticipate a looooong day. I'll be like a zombie at the end of it.

I certainly don't want any bug, glitch or delay.

This is me being the usual me, panicking at the last minute.

various and surprising meaning of 'NON'

One may translate NON into No. It's a bit more complicated than that. It means 'This government needs new communication directors because those who advised Mr Chirac did a super wrong job'. It also means 'Don't threat us' and 'deal with us with more respect and consideration'.
Finally, one may interpret Non as 'we still haven't gotten the point of this constitution; you [this government] spent your time repeating we'd better vote yes but failed to explain with plain words why and what's in there for us'.

My personal interpretation of 'Non' (in addition to formerly elaborated … translation): Chirac, Out!!

No dictionary will ever help anybody understand how to correctly translate a french 'Non'. Time for those who write them to update.

a sign?

Bob,
This is so weird… I'm currently taking care of last details prior to my departure to the States and there and then arrives your e-mail ^_^

I just can not let you go like this and let you play hide and seek my friend. I want to know more: how are you doing? Where you are and what you do and who you're currenly with are irrelevant details; All I want to know is: how my friend Bob is doing? So, will you let me know?

Actually, that's ok if you decide not to say more… I'm just happy and relieved to know you are, well, somewhere, anywhere.

I attached a picture a friend of mine shot last week-end.

Bob, I really detest the kind of chain of letters you sent me; LOL. But, YOU sending it, meant something dramatically different.

You take care.
Pascal

Sometimes one really needs to know more than one language

Don't ask me why I was suddenly redirected to some italian version of lastminute.com;

Getting nervous

Chirac is to make a speech this evening. He and his government have their back against the wall (litterally translated – I think the image says enough what that means).

The prime minister didn't even benefit from moral support after he underwent a surgical routine; this tells enough how sick people are of him and all his gang.

All surveys predict a majority will vote 'Non' to the european constitution…

I guess people are voting as much against this government as against the constitution, which, to me, is a mistake.

This president chose to go through a referendum instead of having a parliamentary vote. Another of his many blunders. An ultimate one this time.
