I just finished watching “Guess who’s coming to dinner”.
It had been my first movie, in cassette in English, subtitled … in English.
I remember paying a lot for the privilege of having this little extra (something you get for granted these days).
I also, apparently, remember a great deal of the dialogues. I guess I had viewed the movie over and over a zillion times: wonders of having a cassette player. Now it’s even easier, ‘click!’.
What I didn’t have then was the internet and, among other things (one of which being having had the chance to have someone pass me a copy of the film), the possibility to look the movie up. Sadly enough, but then again we’re talking about 40 years, most if not all actors are no longer.
Has society changed in that time span?
