I bought flowers, tulips I believe they are, for Natascha K.
Tomorrow is her last day on site and the last time we’ll see her ever as she’s quitting the company.
I had an interview with her on Wednesday and at some point during the course of the conversation I saw her blushing, eyes becoming teary and there she was sobbing…
Other colleagues reported the same behaviour none of us able to know what was the cause of it…
I liked her, she was the first one I met when I changed position some 2 years ago to expatriate.

I already sense there’ll be comments about it first thing next Monday. Maybe Fanny S. will even confront me about it but hey, seeing colleagues eating at the same restaurant I usually go to on weekends doesn’t mean I absolutely have to talk to them, does it?
Besides, she and her boyfriend are too young and … predictable and not at all interesting. The little they’ve been through in life I have too so there’s nothing they would have done that I wouldn’t know about.
There are others who I’d definitely be willing to spend time with but for some we started on the wrong foot (my mistake) and others, well, I have the feeling I am the one, in turn, they might not find worth wasting time with.

- In addition to my wiki, which concept never ceases to seduce me, I’ve decided to create as many ‘public’ Google notebooks as I see fit for what pertains to the wiki. These will help collect informations rapidly, categorize them quickly with tags so as to fuel the wiki later as it takes more time to build.
- I brought strawberries to work, for Valentine’s day. In reality in this country it is more a ‘friendship’ day so offering them to colleagues, males or females, didn’t bear same meaning. I made sure to remind non-Finns of the context…The strawberries came in box that was shaped as a heart
Apparently they were good.

- F.Reinhold came back from a, I supposed then, rather long hiatus since early December. I happened to learn that those vacations were in fact a sick leave. Cancer… When I saw him I immediately noticed his face looked bloated. I know he had his throat slit open so naturally I looked there too…
- I took my chance and applied for another job. Still on the site but in the Engineering department. Still in Quality but with also a good technical part. Alain being away I felt a bit as if I was stabbing him in the back.
It shouldn’t be a total surprise to him though since during our last interview I let him know I was planning to apply for another position elsewhere in the society, much more so as the end of the year would close in. I didn’t anticipate it might be in next building.
Not a done deal yet, far from it. The position doesn’t have to be filled in before next Fall. Still, I have the feeling I did the right move.
